Due to the rate at which this list has grown [and is still growing], as well as some of the comments [notes, emails, whatever] that I have received, I have made an FAQ page in order to try and help folks with some of their Frequently Asked Questions.
Please read the FAQ before you make any comments, send any emails/notes…
Also please remember that this is a ‘free’ resource that I am posting for your possible use. As such do not demand any sort of technical (or other) support…
No. There is no club to join. This list was originally put together for personal reference material only. Now it is here for whomever…
No. I do not require you to do any such thing. You can do this, but only if you choose to do so because of something I have posted. Neither has any effect on you being added to the list. This list is for reference, it is not a popularity contest… Nor is it an attempt to disguise some pagewhoring… As I said in #1, it’s a well used reference piece.
I would ask that you be polite and check to see if you are on the list, before messaging me about adding you…
Well to be honest they are very loose guidelines, and it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to try and list them. Yes, a lot of the stock is female, but only because that is what generally floods the stock accounts. Trust me there are many of us that would love to see more well done male stock art, as well as other types...
Also a Deviant does not have to be a devoted stockist to make it onto the list…
-3a; Why is it that an account you have listed has little or no stock?
Sometimes a Deviant/Artist may move their work to another account, move it to another web site, they are reorganizing their work, they are on hiatus, or they may have just deleted it. Perhaps it is the other resources at that location I was drawing attention to. Obviously the accounts are subject to change without notice, and because they once had resources available, they may have them again later, or they may have redirects to another location of use.
-3b; Some of the accounts listed have low grade and/or low-res pictures, why include them?
Because this ‘stockist’ list is for reference use also. This means the list can be used for reference in other art forms {such as drawing, vector, painting, sculpture, and etc}, not just for photo manipulation.
-3c; I don’t see any stock at the account.
Make sure you check the scraps, and the deviant’s journal. You would be surprised how many folks offer to let you use their work as stock (even though it is not listed in that category) as long as you follow their rules… So take the time and dig at the accounts listed {to include journal entries}, you may find some very nice surprises…
Please send me a note, or make a comment at the journal it is listed at, and let me know the specifics on what the issue is. Once I have received your note, and checked out the issue, I will do what needs to be done, when I can.
-4a; I have noticed something that needs to be fixed on the list, what do I do?
Send me a note, or make a comment at the journal it is listed at, and let me know the specifics on what you think needs to be fixed. Once I have received your note, and checked it out, I will do what I can, when I can.
-4b; I have a suggestion on how to improve the list, what do I do?
Send me a note, or make a comment at the journal it is listed at, and let me know what your ideas are. Please remember that this list is shared with other groups and that it is a resource we provide to be helpful, but we can not spend huge amounts of time on it…
Make a comment at the journal, or note me through dA. It would be in your best interest to look and see if you are on the list before spamming me with requests…There are no real special hurdles to jump through; however being rude, disrespectful or vulgar is the best way to get ignored, and/or removed from the list. This includes to other deviants, as well as me.
If you so wish. I am not going to list anyone that would prefer not to be listed. If you wish to be removed then I ask that you note me, and insure you identify what account (s) you want removed. NOTE: Just because you are listed, it in no way entitles anyone to do anything with your work that is against your posted rules of use.
It’s mostly due to the fact that I don’t have the time. Also because I am just one person and this is a bloody large list of folks. There is a slim chance that I may start to incorporate other kinds of features at a later date, but there would have to be something in it for me. Don’t complain about what you are given… Come on now this is a freebie…
If you do want a more detailed/categorized listing I might suggest going to look at ~Stock-Library, who has been using some of my list at their account…
-7a; Why haven’t you used icons?
To be completely honest this is a huge list and not everyone has the time for all those icons/images to load, nor does everyone have a high speed connection. The use of an icon is not only undesirable to me, but very discourteous to those who come to these pages…
For what I think are valid reasons. Such as they may come back {it has happened}, or they have contact information left up at the banned account. Some of the banned folks still have stock available, some have more than one account, and the other account info may be up there. They still deserve to have some credit given to them, and an attempt to notify them.
Send all the money you like, but I rather dislike crowds so no worshipping in anything but small groups…
You bet your arse you do. Each artist/stockist will most likely have their own preferences, guidelines, or rules which govern what you can, or can not, do with their stock (or other resources) and how they wish to be compensated {such as links, credit, cookies, that sort of thing}. If for some reason they do not, then you should follow dA’s basic stock rules. I do not want anyone to mistake my rules for those of the stockist I have listed. Obviously if you have questions about a deviants’ rules, then you should contact that artist/stockist directly…
It is a possibility. I have allowed several deviants and some dA groups so far to do so.
If you want to post this ‘stockist’ list {in part or in whole} then you will have to contact me and we can discuss it. Do not copy and claim as you own…
-11a ; Will you allow me to post a translated version of this?
It is very possible. I have allowed another to do so. It would be great to see this resource more useable. I have everything as Word documents so they can easily be mailed, transferred, and edited…
If you want to edit & repost this ‘stockist’ list {in part or in whole} then you will have to contact me and we can discuss it. Do not copy and claim as you own…
Yes, with the understanding that you do not claim it as yours.
Undoubtedly it will, and has, so I suggest you check back on it from time to time… Not all changes will have notices posted, so keep and eye on the ‘Last updated’ tag at the bottom of the page...
Not on your life... I started this as a resource for me and a few others, and it has grown into something much more. I provide the information to several groups, and individuals (all of whom have been nice enough to credit me in some manner), as well as posting at my own journal so that just about anyone can profit from this resource… I don’t get page views when someone reads my journal and all the links are directly to the journals concerned, so you won’t be directed to my front page…
I update the list as I have time. This means that I could end up making those that watch my account scream if I chose to show all of the updates to my journals. To be honest I know some of my watchers are all ready tired of how often I do update my journal entries. Also sometimes the updates are very minor and really don’t require you to come scrambling over to view. So to answer your question because I wish to be polite and not flood folk’s inbox. Plus (I have stated this before) all of my deviations, lists, journal entries, and whatever else I have posted here is subject to change without notice, so come back and check things over now and then…

A hard man is good to find.
I think stock photography has been given a bum wrap. People try and say it isn't real art or photography because they fail to see worthwhile stock or they fail to see the potential in worthwhile stock. I was always confused how people could readily accept other questionable (not disrespect to anyone) forms of 'art' but bag on stock...
Oh and Bonnie is my new desktop...
